Let's Talk About IT 8: Failure Culture & Networking Insights
I had my first opportunity to attend Let's Talk About IT, and honestly?
I already know this is just the beginning of my regular participation in such events. The sheer amount of knowledge, authenticity, and networking was invaluable! 😁
The event focused on the 'fail-safe culture' – how to turn mistakes into lessons and why the fear of failure is the biggest growth bottleneck.
The speakers didn't just stick to theory – they shared raw stories from their professional and personal lives. This transparency was incredibly refreshing.
From my notebook, I've selected the quotes that resonated with me the most:
- Fear it and do it anyway: courage is not the absence of fear, but acting despite it.
- We are not a failure, we just experience it: an error is an event, not our identity.
- Failure is a form of development: every mistake is valuable feedback from the system or life.
- Mental preparation: we cannot always avoid failure, but we can build resilience to come out stronger.
- Choose 'safe-to-fail' environments: look for places where mistakes are treated as learning material, not grounds for hate.
- No explain, no complain: take responsibility for your decisions without making excuses.
- Leader's transparency: the foundation of trust in a team.
- Let emotions resonate: suppressing frustration after a setback leads to burnout, not growth.
This was an experience that goes beyond standard technical knowledge, touching the foundations of what we call professional maturity.
I once heard that 'to be noticed is to be listened to'.
This event confirmed those words for me. Thank you to everyone I spoke with – every conversation in the hallways was a valuable lesson.
I felt incredible openness and kindness from you all. Networking in such a community is a pure pleasure! 🤗
The atmosphere was a mix of substantive insights, laughter, and authenticity – a rare combination that makes you want to return.
I will remember this edition as a reminder that in IT, despite the technology, people and their approach to challenges create real value.
I hope our community will continue to integrate this strongly, even offline.
Best regards to everyone I had the pleasure to talk to, and also to those I didn't get a chance to – yet.
Ps. Rzeszów made a huge impression on me. A beautiful city that I'll definitely return to!
